Frederic Cossard

Burgundy, France

After a career in the dairy industry Frédéric Cossard decided to follow his fascination with wine and try his hand at producing. He had become interested in wine making at a young age after spending time with his grandfather who made wine for the family from a tiny parcel of land in the village of Nolay, in eastern France.
Eager to continue the family tradition, Cossard rented premises not far from Nolay in Saint Romain in 1996. Today, you can find him in the village working in the same cellar he purchased and renovated over 20 years ago!

His vines, which are lovingly tended to with homeopathic tinctures and a special compost mixture, cover 10 hectares across several appellations including Volnay and Pommard. He releases under two labels one named eponymously, and another called Domaine de Chassorney.

Cossard has been described as larger than life, and his wines also live up to that; they are elegant and expressive.
