Savaterre

Beechworth, Vic

Savaterre vineyard is a small winery that produces some of Australia’s finest Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs. Nestled just outside the beautiful town of Beechworth, in the rolling foothills of the Victorian Alps, it’s worth a visit just to take in the sights.

Owner and winemaker Keppell Smith established the vineyard in 1996 after searching extensively for a place to put down roots.

The mild summer days, cool climate and elevation made for the magic “terroir” combination he was after.

In Australia Keppell is a winemaker that dares to be different; he draws his inspiration from the wines, winemaking and viticulture of the Old World. This can be seen in his vineyard aspect through to the use of natural yeasts and the finest French barriques.
