Albert Boxler

Alsace, France

A spellbinding producer of dry Riesling from one of Alsace’s top villages. Domaine Albert Boxler is a 300-year-old family run domaine in the high Alsace village of Niedermorschwihr, in north-eastern France.

Jean Boxler, grandson of Albert Boxler, runs the Domaine today.

This vineyard has a reputation of producing some of the region’s finest and most consistent wines. Their 12 hectares of vineyards rate amongst the best holdings in Alsace with over 50% Grand Cru rated, shared among the Sommerberg and Brand Grand Crus. The steep and terraced Sommerberg vineyards are worked manually. Most of the vines are on granitic soils with some limestone-based plots too. All the vineyards are farmed organically.

Jean’s wines tend on the drier, more acidic side. The granitic soils of the vineyard give the wines a distinct mineral flavour not often seen from Alsace.
