July Selection

Variety- Barbera

Barbera is considered the quintessential ‘wine of the people’, piquing the interest of top producers from across the famous Barolo region. If you’re new to Northern Italian wines, Barbera represents the perfect intro to prepare your palate for some of the region’s most heralded and expensive wines!

The Bud Burst Club

2019 Ravensworth Barbera, Canberra

Ravensworth is owned by renowned winemaker Bryan Martin, who is currently the head winemaker at one of Australia’s top producers, Clonakilla.. The 2019 Barbera release from Ravensworth sees a dash of Nebbiolo added from the same vineyard site.  Still carries ripe, beautiful sour cherry characters and zingy acidity but the Nebbiolo adds some more texture and soft tannins. A delicious wine all-round!

2017 Boggero ‘Fiore di Bosco’ Barbera d’Asti, Piedmont, Italy

A gorgeous 100% Barbera from sustainably managed vines grown in the hills of Asti. Medium to heavy weight it offers dark juicy fruit and firm tannins. Notes of plums, mocha and deep black fruits.

The Old Vine Club

2016 Braida ‘Montebruna’ Barbera d’ Asti, Piedmont, Italy

The man who first put Barbera on a pedestal, or at least demonstrated that it was capable of making serious wine rather than local mouthwash, was the late Giacomo Bologna of the Braida estate.

Montebruna is a wine that speaks of its land. The vineyards are located in Rocchetta Tanaro, a narrow hilltop ridge just outside of Asti, in North West Italy. This wine has distinctive aromas of black cherries, smoke and earth, and the palate is lush with black fruit, spice and minerality.  A wine to sip and savour.

2018 S.C Panell Barbera, Adelaide Hills

Stephen Pannell has quickly progressed from being one of the shining stars of a new generation of Australian winemakers to being one of the most lauded established winemakers in the country. Pannell’s 100% Barbera hails from a single vineyard in Gumeracha, at the northern end of the Adelaide Hills. The wine is full of life and intrigue thanks to its combination of flavours including dark cherry and boysenberry, finished off by a delightful berry-freshness.

What You Need to Know

How It Works

To make sure customers are kept updated about our findings, every month we send them a two-pack of new wines to try. Both wines in the pack will be made from the same variety of grape but will be from very different parts of the world, allowing customers to compare and contrast their special tastes. To make the learning experience even more comprehensive and exciting, the pack will include informative tasting notes that explore both the grape and the wine.

The Deal

As a company that is passionate about sourcing rare, delicious and affordable wines, we are always incredibly keen to share them with our customers as well as tell the story behind every bottle.

As an exclusive member of the Two of a Kind Wine Club, you are going to get to drink some awesome wines at a great price. Every month, you will get the same deal: same variety, two different wines.
