Cadenhead must have raided the deep, back blocks of their big warehouse to find these gems.  And look at the ABV? A very healthy 48.2%.

My notes, “You need to dig deep to find the grain whisky, but it does give a steely tang to the palate.  The oak is lush and sweet, hints of ginger along with rich fortified wine flavours.  Rich, slightly oily in texture, clean crisp finish, but that sweet oak just lingers.  Bang for buck?  It’s an Ace!”

Official notes read, “The blend is then finished in Oloroso sherry casks giving it a bolder, yet well balanced, flavour. Nose: Fresh, lemon drizzle, coffee & walnut cake, rum and raisin, caramel. Flavour: Lightly roasted coffee, date syrup, sticky toffee pudding. Finish: Peppery, salted caramel, nutmeg, flint”.
