Produced from a tiny 0.21-hectare walled clos directly in front of Nicole and Yannick Amirault’s house, this vineyard is situated on the prime mid-to-high slope above Bourgueil, where the soil comprises 1 to 2 meters of clay over Turonian limestone. After 50 years of abandonment, Yannick restored the old walls and re-planted the vineyard in 1997. Often considered the “garden” of Nicole and Yannick, this beautifully positioned vineyard receives meticulous attention, reflecting the care reserved for the finest plots. Released only in exceptional vintages—namely 2003, 2005, 2010, 2017, 2018, and 2020—other vintages are blended into the cuvée called Grand Clos. This is Bourgueil and Cabernet Franc at its very finest.
