Bondar, established in 2013 by husband and wife duo Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly, is located in the renowned Rayner Vineyard within McLaren Vale. Here, they work with old vine Grenache and Shiraz, focusing on crafting wines that are vibrant, well-structured, mid-weight, and full of flavor with a savory touch. Emphasizing minimal chemical intervention, Andre employs techniques such as using whole bunches, extended skin contact, and early fruit picking to achieve a balanced and bright character in their wines.
Critic Reviews
Cherry, raspberry, almond, dried roses and thyme, with quite some spice and a little cedar. It’s medium-bodied, cherry and dried herb, a little blood orange in the mix, tannin is firm with a light graininess and grip, with a sappy freshness, and a dry pumice stone tannin finish of excellent length, some orange peel in the aftertaste. It has a good volume of fruit, yet its pretty savoury in style too, with an amaro twist. More to come, I expect.
