Although Etienne Bodet’s “Clos Durandiere” is a relatively recent venture, with its first bottling in 2020, it has generated considerable excitement. This may be partly thanks to Etienne’s extensive expertise, having trained under renowned advocates of French non-interventionist viticulture, and his full-time role as the winemaker at Clos Rougeard. Drawing on this deep knowledge, Etienne creates an elegant and savory Cabernet Franc from the 1.3-hectare Clos de la Durandiere vineyard in his native village of Montreuil-Bellay.
Ample intensity and length of flavours on the palate with a frame of bright vibrant fruit and remarkably fine and sophisticated tannins carried through to a long and expressive finish with perfectly balanced freshness. The aftertaste is long and hauntingly fine and appetising drawing you back to taste again. Importer Notes
