Managed almost single-handedly by the exceptional Denis Bachelet since 1983, this petite Burgundy wine estate encompasses a mere 4 hectares of vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin. Bachelet’s extraordinary talent for crafting wines that are both pure and graceful appears to be innate, and he fully leverages this gift in his winemaking endeavors.
“La finesse avant tout” – finesse above all – encapsulates Denis Bachelet’s guiding principle, evident in every wine he produces. The emphasis on meticulous vineyard yields, a careful selection of barrels in the cellar (approximately one-third new oak for Gevrey-Chambertin and 50% for the crus), and an overall sense of a vintner in complete command of both wines and winery, underscore his commitment to achieving finesse in every aspect of winemaking.
Critic Reviews
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has such a pretty nose that disguises the trauma of the growing season: ebullient redcurrant, white-tipped strawberry and light stony scents. The palate is taut and fresh, just the right amount of countervailing bitterness, with a lively finish. Just a lovely Gevrey. 91 Points Vinous
