2018 Arnaud Lambert Saumur Brézé Bourguenne

$176.00

After his father created this domaine in 1996, the softly spoken Arnaud Lambert is working with a humble passion, and a brilliant team, to bring what amounts to a revolution (and a truly distinctive revelation) to the Saumur appellation. This historic town, surrounded by walled and other vineyards, nestles between the Loire and its tributary river the Thouet. Using organic viniculture, and a commitment to precision, there is an aim of fulfilling the potential of individual terroirs. Because currently, in the Loire Valley, at both Brézé and Saint Cyr, mass-producing cooperatives dominate around three-quarters of the surface area.

100% Chenin Blanc from a tiny 0.30 hectare holding planted on sand over limestone facing east on the hill of Breze and located beside one of the small holdings of Clos Rougeard. Whole bunch pressed with natural yeast and aged in barrel (new and one year old from 3 different barrel cooperages) for 24 months without malo and given an extra 12 months in bottle before release. Bottled un-fined and unfiltered. Importer Notes
