Battles is a collaboration between Lance Parkin, former Houghton winemaker, and Kris Ambrozkiewicz, Rockpool Perth sommelier, former winemaker, and Vinous Matters sales rep. This is only their second vintage under their own label, yet they have quickly developed a strong following for their characterful wines that exhibit poise and complexity. With a strong commitment to working with both unconventional and classic varieties, their ethos is to create wines that reflect the great vineyards and regions where they are grown.

Their 2022 Shiraz combines fruit from the Geographe and Perth Hills regions in Western Australia, offering a fresh, modern take on Australian Shiraz. Pretty florals of purple flowers and violets are underpinned by blackberry and red cherry fruit. The palate is full-bodied, with a deep core of dark fruits and a persistent tannin structure that leads to a long finish.
