Lots of ripe cherry, aniseed/liquorice root, rose petals, spice and blonde tobacco. It’s medium-bodied, succulent in cherry and dark red fruit, a cool ‘mineral’ feel to acidity, and yes, ripeness here but it keeps itself nice and tight. Tannin is firm, ripe and has something of a brick dust texture, and there’s a tea and rose perfume on a finish of superb length. So bloody good. I’m touch and go for 97, and yes, I’m havering, though we shall see!
