2020 Pierre Boisson Bourgogne Blanc

Sourced from six parcels stretching from Meursault and Auxey-Duresses across to Volnay. 30-40 year old vines, bottled unfiltered after 18 months in barrel.

Wow! The first thing I can say about this is that it reminds me of that epic 2014 Boisson-Vadot Bourgogne that we seemed to have kicking around in the CellarHand cellar for ages when we first started working with this producer, and even before that. Like that’14, this 2020 is textbook Bourgogne, but it’s so much more in so far as a richness, a level of complexity over a level of drive and focus and minerality, and just that gorgeous, perfectly judged sulphide that’s part of the wine, rather than being a show-stopper feature. It really is as charming as Bourgogne gets. In fact, it’s way more exotic, exuberant, mineral and impressive than many a village Meursault. Just divine.
