He now owns eight hectares of vines. These are comprised of four in Côte-Rôtie spread across 10 different plots. Added to this are two in Côte du Rhône (red and white) and the same in IGP-classified plots (Valine). This Jamet Valine Syrah comes from Cote Rotie and is a site set just above the commune of Ampuis. Although the vines are not in the classified appellation, the actual site is a little different.
His Collines-Rhodaniennes red is from the Northern Rhone Valley. It is precise and linear, both laser-sharp and seamlessly silky. A superb balance has been struck between a piercing savoury red and black berry concentration of the fruit and truly subtle notes of black liquorice, graphite and stony schist liquid minerality and welcome salinity.
