Domaine Tempier can be considered one of France’s great estates. It is situated in France’s Bandol region and the family behind the operation is responsible for putting the province on the wine map, showing the world how great Mourvèdre-based wines can be. The farm has been in the Tempier family since 1834 and – whether it is the cult following they have established through their refreshing rosé (once praised by Robert Parker as the greatest rosé in the world), their Bandol Blanc or the distinctive cuvées of Bandol rouge – the wines of Domaine Tempier represent a proud benchmark when talking about Provençal wines.
On December the 11th, 2017, the remarkable founder of Domaine Tempier, Lulu Peyraud turned 100. The 2017 classique rouge is dedicated to her on the label.
The wine itself is an intoxicating blend of predominately Mourvedre with some Grenache, Cinsault and Carignan also included. A deep and structured red of such refinement and longevity.
